Cuballo was born from the meeting of nearly 30 years of experience in the maritime world, a deep passion for fishing and a special connection with Costa Rica.
01 · OUR STORY
A story that began long before the lodge.
Behind Cuballo lies a professional life spent close to boats, engines and the sea. Nearly 30 years in marine mechanics have built a hands-on understanding of boating, its demands and the importance of every detail.
Alongside this experience came a long-standing passion for sport fishing. In 2010, a first fishing trip to Costa Rica marked the beginning of a special connection with the country and its Pacific coast.
Years later, Cuballo naturally brings these worlds together: maritime experience, fishing, Costa Rica and the desire to welcome anglers in a more personal, intimate setting.

The Sea as Our Guiding Thread.
Over the years spent in the maritime world, experience was built not only around boats. It also came from hands-on work with equipment, navigation conditions and different fishing techniques. This practical knowledge now allows us to approach every trip with care and preparation.
At Cuballo, this experience is reflected in the details: choosing and preparing the right gear, adapting to the day’s conditions, the techniques being used and each angler’s experience level. Our goal is to offer serious, well-prepared fishing while keeping what matters most: the pleasure of being on the water and sharing a passion.

04 · WHY SÁMARA?
Our home base on the Pacific.
Sámara offers exactly the balance we were looking for: privileged access to the Pacific, abundant nature and a more intimate atmosphere than the larger tourist destinations.
Here, fishing can take up the whole day. Once back on land, the beach, village and lodge offer a chance to slow down and shift into a completely different pace.
